So our question this week is: What would be a creative way for you to say "Thank You" to someone you know this week? Let's be here for each other. It's hard enough times that you shouldn't have to go through it alone or feel unappreciated for your efforts. We hope that you have a wonderful week! XOXO - Impulsive

We also have some things in the works about a charity that you can participate in! So, let's get into this week and all the fun things we have planned! Classes and Events Wednesday evening we will be having a Live Stream on our Facebook page! We started hosting an items Live Stream at 6 p.m. so that you can see the items that we have in the store without having to leave the comfort of your home to check out our products! Question for Our Creatives This week, we have two questions! We thought it wouldn't be bad though because they're connected to each other. We know that a lot of people are battling with anxiety during this time, and we wanted to know what you're doing to deal with it. What are you doing for your mental health and how do you relax during this virus time period? Shout out to those of you who were handling a mental battle before all of this hit. To anyone how feels like they are not handling this well, you are! We are proud of all the work you have put in and what you are doing every day. You got this! Please reach out if you need someone to talk to. (We have to put here that we are NOT licences professions and CANNOT give you advice, we just want you to know we are here for you if you just need someone to talk to.) • April Artist of the Month: Heather Loftis

The day has finally come....I knew it would, I just didn't think it would be this soon... The day that I was chosen as Artist of the Month....and the day I would have to write my own blog post! Well...we'll see how this turns out! A Little More About Heather Hello all! Most of you probably know me already, but if not this is the perfect time! I am a watercolor artist here at Impulsive Creativity and I wear a lot of hats here! Not only do I create some of the artwork you see, I also teach classes, write the blog posts, am a social media admin for the Impulsive Creativity social media pages, and you may even see me working behind the counter! Kat and I are best friends and I have been working for Impulsive since opening the storefront. To be honest, I have loved working at the shop with Kat and our husbands and being able to work more behind the scenes for the business aspect... ...until today. 🤣 My background in art started as soon as I started coloring in preschool, or maybe even before? Basically, as far back as I can remember, art has been my thing! I started taking private art lessons when I was 13 years old, have won 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons in student level art completions, and teaching art classes myself at summer camps since I was about 15. As long as there was an art class, I was taking it. From middle school all the way to college; taking all types of subjects from stained glass and pottery, to watercolor, oil paints, and beyond. This isn't me trying to brag, normally you have to twist my arm to tell you about my past art accomplishments. May goal in sharing is to say that art has always been more than just a passion for me; it's been a part of what makes me, well, me. I started an art business recently (called Lofti Arts) to reach my ultimate goal of sharing all my knowledge of art with whoever is interested in learning about it. I can't wait to share with you! The Interview with Myself! H: What was the "key moment" for you that lead to you getting started in your medium? H: The key moment for me in painting was taking that private art class. I was able to experience a lot of different art styles and types in a very short amount of time and when my instructor was starting to show me the first techniques in watercolors (then a few months later in oils) I was hooked! Something about mixing my own colors and telling a story with them drew me to painting in general, but especially watercolor and oils. H: If you could work in any other area of art (besides your own), what would it be and why? H: I would have to say working on the pottery wheel. It is so different than my normal medium and I really miss being able to just slam down a glob of clay and slowly make something completely different and beautiful from it. H: You're a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why? H: That blue, green completely transparent ocean color. It's so calming and peaceful, which is how I try to live my life. That and the ocean is my happy place! H: What is your go-to strategy for overcoming the thoughts of "your work isn't good enough" or "I am not good enough to sell my work"? H: To be honest, I think I still struggle with this sometimes. I think it comes from trying to be "perfect" in my artwork (and in other areas in my life *cough, cough*). Though, I've found the best way to battle that voice is just to DO SOMETHING! Action helps me to fight back by saying, "At least I'm working on it instead of doing nothing." H: If you could be any animal, what would you be and why? H: I would be a fox! For those who know me, this is no surprise! I really love how agile and quiet they are, but how they still can stand their ground and fight back when needed. They are a source of inspiration for me. What You Can Look Forward To You should be able to see that I have a few things up on the online shop page here on the website (which is new for me!) So you will be able to see some of my newer works of art up and if you like them you'll be able to buy them! But, if you don't want to do that, I will be offering new craft classes on the Impulsive Creativity YouTube channel! These classes will be offered FREE to you! I wanted to do this so that you will be able to still be crafty while stuck at home and to share my art knowledge with you! I'm still really new to the whole YouTube classes and video thing as well, so we will be learning together through this! Below will be a link to the YouTube channel. Feel free to leave me a comment saying hi, or something that you would like to learn through the video series! Thanks for watching my videos in advance! Let's Get Social! Do you have a question or an idea? Let us know! Leave a commit below, sign up for our email list, or follow us on Social Media! Here's a link to our Facebook page! One for our Instagram page! And one for our YouTube channel! Practicing social distancing is great for not spreading the virus, but we miss being able to see you in the store! Reach out to us on your favorite social media platform, or send us an email, so that we can still talk to you! I can't wait to craft with you on YouTube and talk with you about art things! Thank you for reading my blog post and I hope that you have a great day, despite what might be going on in the world. See you guys soon! XOXO - Impulsive

  • Impulsive Creativity - Covid-19 Response

  • March Artist of the Month: Anna Peterson

We're getting better at announcing the Artist of the Month! This one is actually being announced in the first week! Yay! Thank you all for your patience as we get everything together from the renovation and for cheering us on as we pick up everything that got dropped! Y'all are awesome! We cannot wait to introduce you to this artist! So let's get to it, shall we? A Little More About Anna We have gotten to know Anna over the last few months and we just love her spirit! She has work so hard to make sure that we are constantly stocked with seasonal prints, while keeping up with how much of the favorites that we have so that we never run out. While seemingly quiet and shy at first, once you get her talking you can really see just how passionate she is for her craft, her family, and the other people she cares about. I don't think I've ever seen her not come in with a smile on her face and a new story to share (most of which she's captured with her wonderful photography skills!) To top it all off, she is also going back to school to get her Masters! She is one hardworking lady and we are so happy to have her in our store so that we can share her with you! Our Interview with Anna H: What was the "key moment" for you that lead to you getting started in your medium? A: It would have to be when I opened a shinny wrapped box that laid under the colorful bright tree on Christmas morning when I was 10 years old. In the box was a 1010 camera that was begging me to use it. From that moment on I was hooked into the photography world. I love capturing that perfect moment. That moment can be a child sinking their teeth into a juicy red strawberry or the sun peeking over the greenery of a lake as fog travels across it. H: If you could work in any other area of art (besides your own), what would it be and why? A: I love capturing people's expressions. It would be nice to do that with paint. H: You're a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why? A: Blue, because its my signature color. I like how the intensity of blue can change but stays calm at the same time. H: What is your go-to strategy for overcoming the thoughts of "your work isn't good enough" or "I am not good enough to sell my work"? A: I don't think I have a strategy. I've never thought I was great photographer, but knew I was average to above average. I'll see other people's work and say, "Wow" they are good and feel like an underdog. But then I will see others that are similar to my style and say, "If they can do well why can't I." What motivates me to pick up a camera is capturing a moment for people to remember. H: If you could be any animal, what would you be and why? A: I would be a cat. I love how they are sassy and their own animal. They know what they want and go for it. What You Can Look Forward To Anna will be offering all of her cards for purchase at 5 for $20. Which is an absolute steal! Her work is really high quality and shows off her attention to detail. Her cards are blank inside so you can personalize them however you need to! For any purchase of her artwork, you will also receive an extra stamp on your rewards card that will get you one step closer to a percentage off your purchase for us. The very special thing is is offering for you guys this month is that if you buy $40 or more of her items, she will do a portrait for you for free! This can be done with your or your pet! She will send you the finished product through your email. To qualify for this deal, you will have to purchase the $40 worth and sign up for a time slot in May or a little later. (Anna is currently taking classes towards her Masters, so that is her first availability.) Let's Get Social Do you have a question or an idea? Let us know! Leave a commit below, sign up for our email list, or follow us on Social Media! Here's a link to our Facebook page! And then one for our Instagram page! Let us know if we're doing a good job, ideas that you have for classes, or just to say hi! Be sure to come by the store to see all of her lovely photography! She makes sure to put the places where she has taken the photo on the back of each work. Maybe you can use that to plan an adventure! Or choose one that is close to where you live to share your own story to anyone who sees one of her photos! It's all up to you. XOXO - Impulsive
